Arcade.
We decided to eat our last dinner in San Antonio at one of the newest restaurants in town, Arcade. The decor looked intriguing and so did the menu, gooooood. Only problem was the wait, almost an hour is pretty long, especially when you're hungry.
It was restaurant week in San Antonio, but everyone except Sandra decided to order a la carte.
My family is extremely share happy. We like to get the most bang for our buck, so if someone's ordering the dish you want, order your number two and an extra plate and we're good to go.
My cousin and I decided to go with:
- grilled eggplant with ricotta (Tomato Ragout – Herbed Bread Crumbs – Mozzarella)
- pei mussels with chorizo (Orange-Habanero Broth – Herbs – Grilled Bread)
- sea diver scallops (Green Chile Corn Grits – Pico de Gallo – Smoked Bacon Salsa)
- dessert
There was a plethora of cocktail options. but I decided to go with the
Airmail (Rum – Honey – Lime – Champagne).
Although we thought we ordered the mussels....apparently our waitress misunderstood because we didn't get em! All good though, because if we had, we probably wouldn't have been able to finish our main course (which they so thoughtfully split for us, scallop and all!)
Not to put a damper on the whole dining experience, but our waitress was pretty incompetent (but sweet!). Aside from the whole not giving us the mussels thing, it took her about twenty minutes to understand the concept of what ginger ale was....
anyway, when it came to ordering dessert the general manager was a real buzzkill, and halted us from ordering the sweets that we all wanted. She proceeded to go on a rant about how "unless we ordered off the restaurant menu, that option isn't available"...meh. Not to mention she attempted to clear my plate twice mid bite. Major points lost.
But since my cousin did in fact order off the restaurant week menu we got one of the "sacred" desserts only guaranteed for the deserving, and to really stick it to her...we ordered two more haha.
Roasted Banana Stack Phyllo Crisp – Salted Caramel – Crushed Peanuts
Chocolate Pudding Cake Salted Caramel – Toasted Pecans – Whipped Cream
and some sort of "limited" lemon tart thingy.
