Ledge.

I've been to Ledge in the past, but since it's been too hot to do anything but lie around and be lazy. My mother and I decided to have someone else cook for a change. The former head chef here was on Chopped!

After looking over the menu (not too many options, which can be both good and  bad) my mother decided to get a LDK burger with sweet potato fries, while I got an order of arancini.

The burger (I had a bite) was cooked to a perfect medium. Great flavor, and it was definitely the best bang for your buck! Half pound burger served on a fresh brioche bun, with about two and a half potatoes worth of fries; which could've been cooked for at least another two minutes.

I expected more from the arancini, but they weren't that bad. Salt was definitely missing, and there could've been some more marinara, but the thai basil was a nice touch! The presentation was on point though, props.

I wish I took a picture of my mom's face when i started shooting oysters. She can't stand the texture, as some don't. They have buck a shuck on Wednesdays/Thursdays, so if you're in the area I highly suggest you go, if not for the dollar oysters!

  • aesthetics: 7/10 - the menu color was a little off putting, I'm pretty sure they used to be a dark brown, not sure why they switched to orange. The tables were sticky as hell. Chalkboard was a tad bit out of place, but the table setup was great!
  • taste:  7/10 - the arancini was a little bland due to the lack of salt, and the limp fries were a bit of a let down...but the burger was pretty damn good. This coming from a familee that owned several restaurants, phantom gourmet approved too. Oysters were fresh!!
  • presentation:  7/10 - nothing out of this world, everything was simple & clean.
  • service:  9/10 - the server has a great Irish accent! She was extremely attentive and responsive to all our requests. Was very mindful of our cues to get her attention.

keep it raw. (especially when it comes to oysters! unless they're fried)
