February/March Favorites! 2014.

It's been a hectic couple of months, and I'm just starting to get back into the groove of things. This won't be that last set back that I'll face, but I'm still learning how to deal with life!

It just dawned on me that I've been twenty-two for a quarter of a year now, and I'm still a bit behind with the goals that I've set for myself. Rather than harp on the lack of progress I've made I figured I just make a list of things to work on in my journal.

I encourage everyone to take the time to write. things. down.

We live in a digital world now, and although I love being able to post to social networks with the flick of the wrist. It baffles me that people don't take the time to write anymore. When's the last time you wrote a letter to someone you cared about? It could be your grandparents, dad, a friend.

I challenge you to write a letter this month! For those that want to send letters to me shoot me a note! I'll be sure to write back.

On to the favorites y'all!

February

Thing to watch on Netflix : Margin Call

If you’re anything like me, then that means you love Kevin Spacey. Ever since I saw American Beauty, I fell in love with the dude haha. This movie is a bit dry at first, but I’ve been trying to up my knowledge about finance/investments/Kevin Spacey. PS, Stanley Tucci <3

It’s an indie film (which I love), that focuses on the central themes that plague business in America, greed, capitalism, and fraud. Without giving too much of it away, I would say that there’s a bit of Frank Underwood in Spacey’s portrayal; yum.

A Margin Call is when your broken essentially lets you know that one of your securities dips below a certain point.

If you’ve got time or want something to play in the background, give this one a go!

Food : Fried Smelt

I was named after a fish so it’s only right that I picked a fish hehe. But in all seriousness, if you go anywhere and this is on the menu, order it. You’re welcome.

Movie I Saw : Every movie that came out this month wasn’t worth my time lulz.

Article of Clothing : Belts

I buy all my jeans to be worn without a belt, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like using them for an added touch to an outfit. I’m always on the lookout for belts with different accents, whether it be a cool buckle etc. I really don’t like buying belts new either. Some people think that thrifted items are “gross” or “cheap” but that’s not my outlook. Yes, there are some things that I would never buy second hand, but belts aren’t in that category. They’re worn in, and the leather is usually super pliable!

Cocktail/Beer : Tender’s Whim from Park in Harvard Sq.

“Feeling Adventurous? Feel free to tell us about yourself”

I forget the name of the bartender to ask for when you go, but the drink he made me with gin was out. of. this world.

New Place : Ittoku, Brighton.

check out my post to find out why yo!

Baby, I'm Faded.

Read : I was a bad kibsta, and didn’t start a new book yet.

Want/Lust : warm weather.

Man : Adam Levine

Woman : Chanel Iman

Tip : “Don’t cry to give up, cry to keep going”

This is dedicated to SCW. You'll always be my salizar.

March

Thing to watch on Netflix : Mud

I’m telling you, McConaughey is killin’ it, as of late anyway. I heard great things about this movie, and it definitely lived up to the hype.

Without giving too much of the story away, it’s a movie that focuses on love - but don’t get it twisted for a typical chick flick now - trust, and sacrifice.

Ellis stole my heart doe.

Food : (Condiment) Tzatziki Sauce.

Although I’ve had this a couple of times in the past. My boyfriend reintroduced this to my life, and I couldn’t be happier for that.

From Greek origin, it’s usually served with grilled meats, check! It’s made of yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, salt, evoo, lemon, dill (or mint? the last time I had it I think it was with mint).

Try it on some ground beef with a little curry powder, rolled up in a warmed pita with tomatoes and onions, hook, line, sinker.

Movie I Saw : The Grand Budapest Hotel

I love Wes Anderson’s style (Moonrise Kingdom) This had a pretty similar feel, quirky, comedic, entertaining, I could go on all night.

The premise of the movie revolves around the history of a (now) rundown hotel. See it.

Article of Clothing : Made & Crafted Levis Boyfriend Jeans

I’ve been searching for the perfect pair for almost four months now, and finally found one of two pairs I want in my wardrobe. This was definitely the perfect darker wash that I’ve been searching for. The distressing on the left leg was a little too much for my liking as I’m probably gunna add a patch to it to keep the knee from opening too much, but I’ll wear them a few more times in warmer weather to see if I want to keep it open.

Buying jeans/pants is a constant struggle because, yes, my legs are too long. I have the inseam of someone I know who’s 6’2”, and that’s without heels. Buying jeans in the right length is challenging. These fit my waist perfectly, and run true to size. I’m a 24 in these and I can wear them comfortably without a belt.

Cocktail/Beer : Yeungling.

Boston just got these bad boys, so you best believe this is what I’m ordering if I see it out for the next couple months (at the very least)

New Place : Wegman’s

Okay, so I never knew why everyone was always raving about this chain but after going to one with my boyfriend I now know why. They have great deals on produce as their prices are always structured to give you the best deals. Great wine/spirit selection. Their prepared foods area is phenomenal. Samples, self explanatory.

Artist : Sabi

She’s got a catchy voice not gunna lie. Her album 0 To 60: Love Sounds has been on repeat for a week or so.

Sabi covers Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams." From the new mix tape 0-60: Love Sounds. Produced by Ryan McDermott

Close second, Party Next Door. I usually listen to Persian Rugs at least twice a day. He’s reminds me of the Weeknd before he fell off.

Read : Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

I read this book in high school, so naturally that means I skimmed it while half asleep on the T. I’ve got a bunch of classics that my English teachers forced us to read that I’m going to revisit this year with a fresh set of eyes too!

Want/Lust : Brown Leather accessories

I recently just snagged my first pair of brown leather heels and I can’t wait to style some outfits once the weather gets warm for real. I’ve been dating the color black for twenty-two years, and I think I’m finally ready to start sharing my wardrobe with someone else. Black will always be my first love, but I’ve been digging the way brown leather looks so much more now. If you guys have any suggestions feel free to pass em along please!!

Man : Grand Marquis

I love this man more than anyone I’ve known, and I will continue to love him as much as he’ll allow.

Woman : This random girl that came to a CLLCTV BOSTON event.

My friend and I were joking that she was the hottest dude we know, and it’s true. She walked in with her swag on a trillion.

Trend : Condiments

Anything from bacon or sriracha mayo to blueberry butter. Apparently adding flavors to staple condiments is a thing now. I’ve always been a big fan of adding spices or flavors to condiments. Avocado mayo anyone? But seriously, the next time you’re making yourself a sandwich try mixing a bit of your favorite flavor into the actual condiment itself, you can’t go wrong people.

Tip : wet, lather, rinse, don’t repeat.

keep it raw.
