Growing up, I would watch my dad methodically put lotion on everyday. I remember when I got to be old enough I asked him why he put it on, and more importantly when I could start putting it on every day (I didn’t understand the need at the time).
He sat me down and explained that because I have a mixed background – he cutely would say I have the best of both worlds, because dad – I have certain parts of my body that are dryer than others, and because of that I need to make sure to put lotion on.
And boy did he make sure I put it on, especially in the wintertime. My daily routine was get up, shower, brush my teeth, put lotion on, and then everything else. I got so good at habitually putting it on that I would cut him off at the pass whenever he asked if I put any on.
Fast forward to my twenties, and I couldn’t be happier that he instilled that into my daily routine. Growing up and living in Boston, I’m no stranger to the elements – especially the cold. Making sure your skin is moisturized is the first thing you can do to fight the winter weather.
My dad and I collectively have probably tried every moisturizer, lotion and crème under the sun. There aren’t many brands out there that I trust to get the job done; Palmer’s is one of them.
I’ve always been a fan of how effective their products are. They moisturize your skin without leaving a greasy residue and are great for eczema-prone skin too.
The Swivel Stick is the perfect size to throw in your purse. It cures the inevitable chapped lips and any other dry areas that tend to come up in the colder months.
If you’re looking to keep your skin hydrated look no further. They're in pretty much every drug store, and you can't beat the price mang.
