Known for their famous hot dogs and seafood. I have the fondest memories of coming here with my dad as a little kid (don't worry we still come here whenever we can). My dad and I would often park the car so we could walk the "long way", check out the sugar bowl to see if anyone caught anything,
Once we crossed the bridge, I knew we weren't far from the toasted and buttered buns and fried clams. Sullivan's is a family-run place, which definitely reminds me of our old restaurants (everyone including their mother works there, doesn't matter if you're 12 or 21) the service is up front, fast yet accurate, and you better know what you want before you get up there. The prices are beyond reasonable (hot dog is $1.60 and a large order of clams (with bellies of course) is about $18 bucks). My dad and I can usually put down four hot dogs, a cheeseburger, a large side of fries, and a milkshake and a soda each. The best part about Sullivan's is the food is always just as you remembered it: hot, fresh, delicious. And since it's takeout only, you get to chose your view! settle for the often crowded nearby benches, or do how we do and sit on the dock o the bay.
I changed up my typical categories because aesthetics/presentation don't really apply here.
- hot dog : 8/10 - these deserve their own category. The bun is perfectly toasted, and the dog is all beef (Kayem I believe)., always cooked perfectly: piping hot with a crunchy skin. Condiments are in healthy proportion, and they rarely mess up an order. Only thing I would complain about is that they're not big enough! They have a few events a year where they only charge 50 cents for these bad boys, trust and believe my dad and I go IN.
- taste: 7/10 - nothing over the top, just your standard fast food joint
- service: 9/10 - If you saw the amount of people they serve at any given moment in the Summer time....you'd understand why this is at a 9. There's always.alwaysalways a line. They're fast, efficient, yet pleasant at the same time which is very hard to do, trust me. They fix any order mix ups instantaneously and are more than happy to "getcha what you need"
I would highly recommend stopping by Sullivan's if you get the chance, you won't regret it.
keep it appetizing.
