Okay, so this isn't the most in-depth or accurate post. I'll do another one once I think I'm ready to do a full cleanse again. (I "hacked" the blue print cleanse when I was a junior in college with my roommate; I ate a steak and cheese directly after because, health). I've been traveling a lot recently. In the past month I've slept in my bed for maybe 2 weekends? Between Connecticut, Austin, and Boston I've definitely put my body through the ringer. I got off my ass and joined a gym right before I left for Austin and wanted to do a cleanse.
I knew my body wasn't fully prepared to do a committed cleanse, so I've been drinking this regularly to get my body acclimated.
Preface : I have no idea what I'm doing.
This is for one 16 oz. serving...? (I use a large mason jar, and I make enough for 2.5 of them, give or take)
Shopping list : all organic errthang:
- kibsta.kale - 3 leafs
- bitchass celery - 5 stalks
- cucumber - halved
- green apple - 2 cut in halves
- parsley - handful
- spinach - 2 handfuls
- romaine lettuce - 3 leafs
- lemon juice - half oz.
- ginger (optional) - 1/4 inch
- jalapeño (optional) - 1/8 inch
- himalayan sea salt - pinch
- pineapple - to taste (I usually put about 5 chunks)
I added in the jalapeño, pineapple, ginger, and sea salt because I wanted to kick it up a notch with the spice (that you normally get from a lemonade throughout the cleanse) and I wanted to add sweet and salty to balance out the normally bland "greenness". Usually the standard "green" juice is all greens, so sans ginger, pineapple, salt, and even jalapeño; but if you ask me, the spice is definitely needed.
I modified this recipe because I wasn't doing a full on cleanse. When I say that, I mean I still continue to eat regularly, occasional alcoholic beverage, and sweets (in moderation). I've been staying away from carbs, although I can't resist my mom's mac 'n cheese, and I have a sore spot for meat. I've been trying to cut out red meat though. Right now my meals usually consist of: yogurt or juice for breakfast, nothing too heavy. A pretty big lunch, packed with veggies. And a modest dinner, but I try to substitute as many veggies in, instead of starch. I snack on fruit throughout the day, and I've been forcing myself to drink plenty of h2o. I take a multi-vitamin in the morning, and lutein for my eyes (I have terribad vision).
Once I get back on track/feel stable being home...I'll do an in depth post about an all-juice "cleanse" that can last anywhere from 3-7 days, depending how long I can go without real food haha.
