Sex And The Modern City (1.03) - Bay of Married Pigs

So this episode is all about how there's a great divide between single people and married people. For the sake of my own experience (never been married) I'm framing this as single and people in relationships! I mean, come on, it's twenty-sixteen and people aren't trying to get married until later.

"Married women are threatened because we can have sex anytime anywhere with anyone, and they’re afraid we’re gunna have it anytime anywhere with their husbands."

Samantha's got a point here, I'm not really sure what it is about women who are in relationships, or at least the ones that I've encountered. First off, we're all well aware that the two of you are in a relationship, you don't need to mark your territory, we can take a hint. We've seen better, and I'm not talking about you.

Single-shaming

This is something that definitely happens. It's subtle, but that shit creeps in sometimes. Of course it depends on your friends group, if they're anything like mine - they don't judge you based on that, because that's pointless. But, I have seen groups of friends who seem to bad mouth their single friends, or feel bad including them in their group date activities...Like yo, since when did being single mean that you no longer know how to ski? or don't watch movies? I'm just over here like ONE TICKET FOR X-MEN, THANKS.

"When women get married they forget who they are, i becomes we, we loved the movie, we hate that restaurant"

The worst. And by that I mean when your friends get into relationships and completely abandon you. The honeymoon stage is great, and I totally get it, I've been there. You want to spend every waking moment together, and even going three minutes without calling.texting.facetiming the other person seems like eternity. Do us all a favor, and hang out with your friends for a while, because you might just find you won't have too many left if you keep blowing them off for her.him.them.

"if you turn into one of those married assholes, I’ll kill you" - Samantha

Don't get me wrong there's absolutely nothing wrong with being in a relationship, long-term, short-term, married, testing the waters. All I'm saying is life is about balance. Try to keep things on an even keel, don't forget the life you had before you met them - I'm sure it wasn't so bad (o:3
